CDP Disclosure Support for First-Time Responders: Strong First-Year Results and a Clear Path Forward

Challenge

When one of PipingRock’s key customers requested environmental disclosures through CDP, the company was faced with a binary choice: begin reporting across climate, forest, and water metrics for the first time or risk losing a valuable business relationship by declining to respond.

The process was unfamiliar, the language was dense, and internal environmental data was limited. PipingRock needed to meet a complex disclosure request without overburdening internal teams—and they needed to get it right the first time. To navigate this challenge, they partnered with TripleWin.

Solutions Delivered

TripleWin provided full-service disclosure support, helping PipingRock interpret the CDP questionnaire, identify applicable modules, and translate the requirements into clear, achievable tasks.

TripleWin first helped determine which sections of the CDP questionnaire applied to PipingRock, then supported the company in answering questions across governance, strategy, environmental performance, forests and water.

Working in close coordination with internal stakeholders, TripleWin wrote responses designed to meet CDP’s scoring criteria: accurate, transparent, consistent across modules, and as data-driven as possible given the available information. Throughout the process, TripleWin helped guide internal review and finalized the submission in time for the score reporting deadline.

Project Learnings

CDP’s integrated disclosure presents challenges even for experienced reporters—let alone first-time responders. For PipingRock, the process clarified where additional data would be needed to strengthen future submissions and how environmental disclosures are interpreted by customers and stakeholders.

The project made clear that a carbon inventory would be essential for strengthening future disclosures—especially to meet customer expectations that PipingRock commit to setting science-based targets.

Client Outcomes

Despite limited internal data, PipingRock earned a CDP score one level higher than anticipated, an outcome directly tied to the quality and structure of the responses. CDP rewards transparency, consistency and depth, and TripleWin’s guidance helped PipingRock meet those standards even in a first-time effort.

Encouraged by the result, PipingRock has returned to TripleWin for help with its 2025 disclosures. Moving forward, the company is looking to conduct its first carbon inventory—an essential step toward improving future scores and meeting evolving customer requirements.

TripleWin is now helping to present the business case for carbon accounting, not just as a compliance measure, but as a strategic tool for identifying operational efficiencies and guiding long-term sustainability efforts.
